User Interface

FoundationalProduct

Definition

User Interface: User interface (UI) refers to the visual elements users interact with in a product—buttons, icons, typography, colors, and layout. UI design focuses on aesthetics and visual communication while ensuring interactive elements are clear and usable. Good UI supports good UX but doesn't guarantee it.

Example Usage

Our UI redesign unified visual language across features, improving perceived quality and reducing support tickets about 'where to find things.'

Common Misconceptions

UI and UX are the same. UI is visual design; UX is the overall experience including UI plus flows and interactions.
Beautiful UI equals good product. A gorgeous interface can still be confusing or frustrating to use.
UI is decoration. Strategic UI choices affect usability, accessibility, and emotional connection with users.
