Radical Candor
Definition
Radical Candor: Radical Candor is a feedback framework that combines caring personally about people with challenging them directly. Created by Kim Scott, it contrasts with ruinous empathy (caring without challenging), obnoxious aggression (challenging without caring), and manipulative insincerity (neither). It enables honest, helpful feedback.
Example Usage
“Instead of sugarcoating, I practiced Radical Candor: 'I care about your growth, which is why I need to tell you this presentation missed the mark. Here's how to fix it.'”
