Definition

UX Researcher: A UX Researcher studies users to understand their behaviors, needs, and motivations. Through methods like interviews, usability testing, and surveys, researchers generate insights that inform product and design decisions. UX research reduces the risk of building things users don't want or can't use.

Example Usage

β€œOur UX researcher's study revealed users struggled with our main flow. Redesigning based on her findings improved task completion 50%.”

Common Misconceptions

Research slows things down. Research reduces rework by validating before building; it saves time overall.
Only researchers do research. PMs and designers can do research; dedicated researchers go deeper.
Just ask users what they want. Research reveals behaviors and problems; users often can't articulate solutions.
