Mutual Action Plan

ConceptualSalesDocuments

Definition

Mutual Action Plan: A mutual action plan is a shared document outlining the steps, owners, and timelines both buyer and seller commit to for completing a deal. MAPs create accountability, surface hidden requirements, and keep complex deals on track. By getting buyer agreement on the plan, you establish partnership and reduce last-minute surprises.

Example Usage

β€œOur MAP showed 12 steps to go-live including security review, legal, and training. Both sides committed to dates, keeping us on track.”

Common Misconceptions

MAPs are just for the seller. True MAPs include buyer responsibilities and commitments.
Share the MAP at the end. Introduce it early and co-create with the buyer.
MAPs guarantee on-time close. They surface risks early but require active management.
