Demand Generation

ConceptualMarketingStrategies

Definition

Demand Generation: Demand generation encompasses all marketing activities focused on creating awareness and interest in your product or service. Unlike lead generation which captures existing demand, demand gen creates new demand through education, thought leadership, and brand building. It's a long-term strategy that fills the top of the funnel and builds market presence.

Example Usage

β€œOur demand gen program includes a podcast, LinkedIn content, and industry reports, generating 40% of our inbound pipeline.”

Common Misconceptions

Demand gen and lead gen are the same. Demand gen creates interest; lead gen captures contact info from interested people.
Demand gen can't be measured. Track brand search volume, direct traffic, and inbound lead quality over time.
Only big companies do demand gen. Early startups can build demand through content and community with minimal budget.
