Definition
RFI: A Request for Information is a preliminary document organizations use to gather information about vendors and solutions before issuing formal RFPs. RFIs help buyers understand the market, compare capabilities, and refine requirements. For vendors, RFIs are opportunities to educate buyers and influence how they define their needs.
